March
TGI
Our
March 21 TGI started at 11:30 entering through the wrought iron black
Buccaneer flagged gates at One
Buc Palace (oops Place). Fourteen
shiny Corvettes and 33 people gathered in the parking lot and admired Lance
and Debby Obst’s newly started ’60 convertible and listened to Mike and
Linda Bryan’s 700 horsepower supercharged 2008.
Journeying
into the beautiful wood décor lobby we admired the 2002 Super Bowl trophy,
Buc memorabilia and the amazing statues capturing “the moment”.
We were joined by our guides for the day Brian Ford, Buccaneer
Vice-President of Business Administration, and Andres Trescastro, Buccaneer
Director of Security and Facilities, accompanied by their helpful assistants
Brian and Brandon Ford.
Our
tour took us through the locker room, media room, auditorium, dining room,
meeting rooms, player lounge, work out rooms and onto the practice fields for
a close-up look at the Buccaneer flag that is bigger than most houses.
Gathering
all together again outside, we were able to take advantage of a terrific photo
opportunity lining the cars up under the giant football.
We
them caravanned to Rick’s on the River, surprisingly keeping all 14 cars
together through a multitude of stop lights and turned restaurant patron heads
as we all motored through the parking lot to spaces right on the Hillsborough
River. Liquid refreshment, lunch
and fellowship under the pavilion followed. Don’t believe any rumors you may
hear about certain members stripping and dancing around the tables. They
really were just trying on samples of the new blue club shirts and jackets.
Our
sincere thanks to our host Buccaneers, the Glazer family, and Brian and Andres
for allowing us to see behind the scenes of their fantastic facility and the
operation of the Buccaneer franchise. For
those of you who aren’t aware, Glazer family member and Buccaneer owner Ed
Glazer is the proud owner of a 2009 ZR-1.
And
as always
GO Bucs!!!!!!!
